WFS, which shoppers see as "Fulfilled by Walmart," is the Walmart equivalent of Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). Walmart describes the flow in five steps: you send inventory, Walmart stores it and makes it available to sell, customers buy on Walmart.com in the US or Mexico, Walmart ships fast, and Walmart handles returns and customer support.
What WFS includes, according to Walmart:

- Inventory storage for under 365 days, with no minimums or maximums.
- Packaging materials.
- Free shipping for Walmart+ members.
- Customer support by chat, email and phone.
- Returns online or in more than 4,600 Walmart stores. Returns for orders placed in Mexico are by mail only.

What products can you send to WFS?
Walmart lists these requirements for WFS items:
- Products up to 500 lb, with maximum dimensions of 120 by 105 by 93 inches, including packaging.
- Non-perishable items that do not need temperature control.
- Inventory shipped from within the US, or already cleared through customs.
Hazmat items can carry additional fees. Anything that needs refrigeration or freezing belongs with your own fulfillment or a cold chain partner, not WFS.
How much does WFS cost?
WFS pricing has three core parts: a standard fulfillment fee per unit, a big and bulky fulfillment fee for large items, and a fixed monthly storage fee based on the item's dimensions and weight. Walmart states there are no setup, monthly or hidden program fees. Fees not included in the core price are return processing, long-term storage, and optional services such as inventory transfer, prep and imports.

Peak season and long-term storage
- Peak season storage. Walmart charges additional storage fees during peak season, October 1 to December 31.
- Long-term storage. Items stored for more than 12 months may incur a fee of $2.25 per cubic foot per month, according to Walmart's WFS pricing page.
- Returns. Return processing fees are charged separately.
The practical rule is the same one that applies to FBA: send what will sell through in a reasonable window, not your whole container. Keep the rest in your own warehouse or a 3PL and replenish.

What are the benefits of WFS?
- Delivery promises shoppers filter for. WFS items can carry the "Fulfilled by Walmart" tag and two-day delivery. Walmart reports 50% GMV growth, on average, for items with that tag and delivery promises of two days or less, based on its own first-party data.
- Walmart+ free shipping. WFS items ship free to Walmart+ members.
- Returns and support handled. Walmart answers order questions and takes returns, including in its US stores, which is hard for any seller to match.
- No minimums. You can send a small quantity of one SKU to test before you commit.
Treat Walmart's growth figure as Walmart's own average, not a forecast for your product. It tells you delivery speed matters on Walmart. It does not tell you what WFS will do for a slow seller.

How do you set up WFS?

When is WFS not the right choice?
- Slow movers. Monthly storage adds up on stock that sits, and long-term storage applies after 12 months.
- Items that need temperature control or are perishable.
- Very low-price items where the fulfillment fee eats the margin. Bundle them or ship them yourself.
- Brands without Walmart demand yet. WFS speeds up a product that sells. It does not create demand. Pair it with Walmart Connect advertising at launch.

Manufacturers and consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands that already ship pallets to retailers usually have the packaging and labeling discipline WFS needs. The decision is about channel economics: which SKUs sell fast enough on Walmart Marketplace to justify storage in Walmart's network, and which stay in your distribution center or 3PL.
