One Agency for Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Shopify: When One Team Beats Four

Updated September 25, 2026

Key Takeaways

  • One team wins when channels share inventory, price and customers. Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, TikTok Shop and Shopify pull from the same stock and the same shoppers, so decisions on one channel land on the others.
  • Specialists win on depth. When one channel is almost all of your revenue, or needs an enterprise-scale capability, a dedicated specialist can be the better choice.
  • Most multichannel problems are coordination problems. Price mismatches, stock outs caused by another channel's promotion and four conflicting reports are the usual symptoms of four separate agencies.
  • Ask for one P&L view. Any agency running several channels should report contribution margin by channel after fees, advertising and fulfillment, not just revenue.
  • Fulfillment is part of the decision. One inventory pool shipped from one warehouse removes a whole class of errors between channels.

One agency for Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Shopify beats four separate agencies when your channels share inventory, pricing and customers and you are not large enough to fund a strong manager for each specialist. It loses when one channel dominates your revenue or needs depth a generalist team cannot match. Many growing product brands that sell on two or more of these channels fall in the first group.

We run Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Shopify for brands under one team, and we run our own warehouse. That is our bias, so this guide lays out the tradeoffs honestly, including when you should hire specialists instead.

What does an omnichannel ecommerce agency actually do?

An omnichannel (or multichannel) ecommerce agency manages several sales channels for a brand as one business. In practice that means one team is responsible for:

  • Amazon: Seller Central or Vendor Central, listings, Amazon Brand Registry, advertising and inventory planning.
  • Walmart Marketplace: listings, pricing, Walmart Connect advertising and Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) or seller fulfillment.
  • TikTok Shop: the shop itself, product listings, creator and affiliate programs, and TikTok Shop ads.
  • Shopify or your own site: the storefront, conversion, email and paid traffic to direct-to-consumer (D2C) sales.
  • The connections between them: pricing rules, inventory allocation, promotions calendar, content reuse and reporting.

The last line is the real job. Plenty of agencies list all four channels on their website. Fewer run them as one plan.

One agency vs four specialists: how do they compare?

One multichannel agency Separate specialist agencies In-house team plus specialists
Pricing across channels One set of rules, one owner Each agency sets price for its channel Your team coordinates, if it has time
Inventory and promotions Planned together A promotion on one channel can drain stock for another Depends on your operations lead
Reporting One report, one set of definitions Four reports, four versions of success You build the rollup
Depth per channel Good, varies by agency Deepest on each channel Deepest where you hire
Accountability One team owns the result Each agency owns its slice Your team owns it
Management time for you Lowest Highest: four relationships High
Best for Brands where channels share stock and shoppers Brands with one dominant channel or enterprise scale Larger brands building internal capability

Why do separate agencies create problems across channels?

None of these problems come from bad agencies. They come from good agencies each doing their own job well, without owning the whole.

Price conflicts

Amazon watches prices elsewhere. If your product is noticeably cheaper on Walmart or your own site, Amazon can stop showing the featured offer, the Buy Box, on your listing. A Walmart agency running a price promotion can quietly cost you Amazon sales. Our guide to winning the Buy Box explains how that works.

Stock outs caused by another channel

A creator video on TikTok Shop can sell a month of inventory in a weekend. If that stock was also meant to replenish Amazon, your Amazon listing runs out, and rebuilding organic rank after a stock out takes time. When one team plans inventory, a spike on one channel triggers a decision about the others.

Credit fights over the same customer

TikTok, Meta and Google traffic creates a halo on Amazon: shoppers see a product on social, then search for it by brand name on Amazon. A TikTok agency sees fewer TikTok Shop sales and an Amazon agency sees organic growth it takes credit for. Neither is wrong, and neither sees the whole picture. One team can measure branded search on Amazon alongside social activity and fund the channels that actually drive it.

Content made four times

Product photos, video, A+ content, product detail pages and creator briefs overlap heavily across channels. Four agencies often produce four versions, with four sets of claims to keep compliant.

Reports that do not add up

Each agency reports its own advertising return, attribution window and definition of profit. Adding them together overcounts. The brand's CFO ends up rebuilding the numbers by hand.

When should you hire specialists instead?

A single team is not always the answer. Hire specialists when:

  • One channel is almost all your revenue. If Amazon is the overwhelming majority of sales and you plan to keep it that way, a deep Amazon team matters more than coordination.
  • You need enterprise-scale advertising. Large Amazon DSP (demand-side platform) budgets and retail media across many retailers can justify a dedicated media agency.
  • Your Shopify work is mostly engineering. A replatform, headless build or heavy custom development is a job for a development shop.
  • A channel depends on a specialty format. Brands built on high-volume live selling, for example, may want a team that does nothing else.
  • You have a strong internal leader. If you employ an ecommerce director who can own pricing, inventory and reporting across channels, specialists can work well under that person.

Many brands end up with a hybrid: one agency owns the marketplaces and the connections between channels, while a specialist handles something narrow like site development. That works as long as one party owns price, inventory and the numbers.

How should inventory and pricing work across channels?

Pricing

Set one pricing policy for the brand, not one per channel. Decide your minimum advertised price, how promotions roll out across channels, and which channel, if any, gets exclusive bundles or pack sizes. Channel-specific bundles are a clean way to run different offers without undercutting yourself. If you sell through resellers too, our guide to MAP pricing covers the policy side.

Inventory

Decide which channels share one inventory pool and which get reserved stock. Amazon FBA inventory sits in Amazon's network and cannot ship your Shopify or TikTok Shop orders without extra fees and steps, so many brands keep a central pool in a 3PL and replenish FBA from it. Plan launches and promotions on one calendar so the channel with the spike does not starve the channel with the rank.

Fulfillment

The fewer places your inventory lives, the fewer errors between channels. One warehouse that preps FBA shipments, ships Shopify, Walmart and TikTok Shop orders, and handles Seller Fulfilled Prime keeps stock counts honest. Our guide to choosing a 3PL for Amazon, Shopify and TikTok Shop covers what to look for.

What does one P&L view across channels look like?

Revenue by channel is easy. Profit by channel is what decides where the next dollar of inventory and advertising should go. Ask any multichannel agency to report these lines for each channel, every month:

  1. Net sales after returns and refunds.
  2. Channel fees: referral or commission fees, fulfillment fees such as FBA or WFS, and storage.
  3. Cost of goods at landed cost.
  4. Advertising on that channel, plus creator commissions for TikTok Shop.
  5. Fulfillment and shipping for orders you ship yourself.
  6. Contribution margin: what is left, in money and as a percentage of net sales.

With that view, a channel that looks big but earns little shows up plainly, and so does one that is small but profitable enough to fund. Track total advertising against total sales, sometimes called TACoS (total advertising cost of sales), alongside the channel view. Our guide to TACoS vs ACoS explains the difference.

What should you ask an agency that says it runs every channel?

  1. Who works on each channel? Ask for the names and roles of the people who will touch your Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Shopify accounts.
  2. How do you set price across channels? Listen for a policy, not a shrug.
  3. How do you plan inventory when one channel spikes? Ask for a real example.
  4. What does your monthly report show? Ask to see a sample with contribution margin by channel.
  5. Do you run TikTok Shop creator programs yourselves? Recruiting and managing creators is its own discipline. See our guide to the TikTok Shop affiliate program.
  6. Who handles fulfillment? Find out whether they run a warehouse, partner with one or leave it to you.
  7. What are the contract terms? Minimum term, notice period and who owns the accounts, content and data if you leave.

What should manufacturers and retail-first brands consider?

Manufacturers and brands that grew up in brick and mortar retail feel channel conflict most. A price drop on Walmart Marketplace or Amazon is visible to every retail buyer you sell to. For these brands, one owner of pricing across online channels is less a convenience than a requirement. Start with the channel that fits your products and margins, protect price from day one and add channels in sequence. Our guides to which channel to add after Amazon and selling direct without upsetting retailers cover the sequencing.

How does Marknology run Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Shopify?

We have worked on Amazon for 15 years and with more than 300 brands, have managed more than 2 billion dollars in revenue across those accounts, and have supported 12 brand exits on the Amazon side. Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an agency that manages Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Shopify together?

Yes. Some agencies, including Marknology, run all four channels under one team. Check that one group owns pricing, inventory and reporting across the channels, not just that the channels appear on the agency's service list.

Is one agency better than separate specialists?

One agency is usually better when your channels share inventory, pricing and customers and no single channel dominates. Specialists are often better when one channel is almost all your revenue or needs enterprise-scale advertising or heavy site development.

What is the biggest risk of using different agencies for each channel?

Coordination. Price moves on one channel can cost you the Buy Box on Amazon, and a promotion on one channel can cause a stock out on another. Each agency optimizes its own slice while nobody owns the whole.

How should a multichannel agency report results?

Monthly, by channel, with net sales, channel fees, cost of goods, advertising, fulfillment and contribution margin. Revenue alone hides which channels actually make money.

Do I need a 3PL if I sell on several channels?

Often, yes. A 3PL lets one inventory pool serve Shopify, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Amazon Seller Fulfilled Prime orders while also replenishing Amazon FBA. It reduces stock count errors and makes inventory planning across channels far simpler.

What does Marknology's Growth Diagnostic include?

A full audit across Amazon, your own site, TikTok Shop and other marketplaces, plus a 90-day roadmap. It is credited to your first month if you go on to work with us.
