Why I Run My Agency with My Three Sisters (And Why It Works)

People always ask me the same question when they find out I run a family business with my three sisters: "How does that work?" The honest answer is that it works better than any other team I have ever built. Here is why running Marknology with Brooklyn, Veronika, and Rho gives us an edge that most agencies cannot replicate.

Trust You Cannot Hire

When you are growing a business from nothing, trust is the scarcest resource. You can find talented people, but can you trust them with your reputation? Your clients? Your bank account? With my sisters, that question was already answered before day one.

We grew up together on five continents. We survived moves from Montreal to Cameroon to Moscow to Botswana to Congo to Kansas City. When you have navigated that much change and uncertainty as a family, running an Amazon agency together feels manageable by comparison.

My sister Veronika has a political science degree and a master's in environmental science. She was passionate about working in an embassy. Then she became disillusioned with the purpose, just like I did with music. So she brought all of that intelligence and drive to Marknology instead.

Each Sister Brings Something Different

Brooklyn is our COO. She keeps the operation running when I am chasing big ideas or flying to a conference. She is the steady hand, the person who makes sure promises get kept and deadlines get met.

Veronika is CMO. She brings a global perspective, analytical thinking, and a passion for brand storytelling that comes from years studying communication across cultures.

Rho rounds out the team with her own unique strengths, and together we have built a leadership structure that covers every angle of the business.

Between the four of us, we have logged over 60,000 combined leadership hours managing brands on Amazon. That depth of experience across a leadership team this tight is rare in any industry.

Communication Is Brutal and Beautiful

Here is what nobody tells you about working with family: the feedback is direct. There is no corporate politeness. If something is not working, my sisters tell me immediately. No sugarcoating, no waiting for a quarterly review. Just the truth.

That kind of honesty can sting. But it also means problems get solved faster. Bad ideas get killed before they cost us money. And good ideas get the full weight of the team behind them instantly.

How It Shapes Our Culture

Our clients notice the difference. When they work with Marknology, they are not working with a revolving door of account managers. They are working with a family that has genuine skin in the game. Our name is on the door. Our reputation is personal.

That culture filters down to every team member we hire. We look for people who care like family, even if they are not related to us. It is the standard we set from the top. Visit our About page to meet the full team.

My Advice to Family Teams

If you are thinking about starting a business with family, here is what I have learned:

  • Define roles clearly. Overlap creates conflict. Give each person ownership of their domain.
  • Separate family time from work time. It is not easy, but it is essential.
  • Lean into your shared history. The trust and shorthand you have built over a lifetime is a superpower.
  • Be willing to have hard conversations. If you cannot be honest with your family, you cannot be honest with your clients.
